Brief Description
The role
We have an exciting opportunity within Network Rail High Speed for a Senior Buyer in our Commercial and Finance Team.
You will implement and monitor agreed strategies for commodity area including development of individual contracts whilst undertaking procurement, negotiation and contracting.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Developing and implementing individual project and steady state contracting strategy proposals (including preparation and evaluation of tender documents and negotiation of contracts).
2. Providing post contract commercial management support for a range of contracts.
3. Providing dedicated support to senior staff in respect of individual projects and/or contract/commercial issues, including ‘rapid response’ to potential contract disputes.
4. Targeting specific goods, services and/or suppliers to identify how tangible improvements may be made in the procurement of these goods and services.
5. Undertaking regular contract management meetings with key stakeholders and suppliers to monitor whether maximum value was delivered via contract.
6. Managing responsibilities for endorsements and approval of contract variations.
7. Providing all services to programme/project teams in a timely and cost effective manner and contributing positively towards the achievement of programme/project objectives.

8. Recognised skills in contractual and commercial matters, with credibility and experience to act as advisor to other staff.
9. A successful procurement background with practical intermediate level experience.
10. Experience of contributing towards maintaining successful relationships with suppliers.
11. Knowledge of relevant contract terms.
12. Strong negotiation skills.
