This winter, we are bringing festive fun to Hatfield with a brand-new pop-up Ice Rink at The Galleria. We are looking for confident, energetic and customer-focused Ice Rink Operative Supervisors to help deliver a magical skating experience for visitors of all ages.
What are we looking for?
As an Ice Rink Operative Supervisor, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the rink, leading a small team of Marshals (typically 2-3 per shift) to ensure the highest levels of safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on position for someone who leads by example - confident on the ice, approachable with customers, and capable of maintaining a calm, professional presence during busy periods.
Job Title: Ice Rink Operative Supervisor
Location: The Galleria, Hatfield
Contract Type: Temporary (Until at least end of December 2025)
Availability: Someone who is available throughout all of November & December
Hours: 4-on / 4-off shift pattern, various shifts available between 8 & 12 hours per day (starting at 9:30am)
Pay: £16.50 per hour (Double time on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day & New Year's Eve)
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supervising and supporting the team of Ice Rink Marshals during each shift.
* Being the responsible person on-site for queries, incidents or disputes.
* Overseeing customer safety and ensuring all rink rules are adhered to.
* Providing hands-on support to Marshals with skate hire, returns, and ice maintenance.
* Monitoring staffing levels and always ensuring operational readiness.
* Leading by example in delivering exceptional customer service.
* Liaising with management to report any issues or maintenance needs.
* Reporting and escalating information to Horizon Management Team
* Liaising with Galleria Management where required
* Ensuring cash handling and customer payment processes are completed accurately.
* Supporting setup, daily operations, and close-down of the rink.
What we will expect in return
We're looking for enthusiastic, confident, and reliable individuals who thrive in a leadership role and can guide a small team to success. Ideally, you will also be an experienced Ice Skater, although this is not essential.
You will need to be:
* Able to demonstrate previous supervisory or managerial experience (ideally in leisure, events, or customer service).
* Friendly, approachable, and calm under pressure.
* A clear and confident communicator.
* Safety-conscious and able to think quickly in challenging situations.
* Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet for long periods.
* Happy to complete and pass a mandatory DBS check (arranged by us).
Experience in leisure, hospitality, or customer service is desirable, but full training will be provided. Training will begin from 6th November, and the rink opens to the public on 17th November 2025.
