Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations within a fast-paced and expanding business. About the Job The Accounts Assistant will play a key role within the finance function, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information across the group. You will assist with project accounting, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring all financial processes are compliant and efficient. Key Responsibilities: Process and prepare client and subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely billing and cost accuracy Support project accounting, maintaining cost records and tracking budgets against forecasts Manage daily accounts payable and receivable transactions Reconcile supplier accounts, credit card transactions, and bank statements Assist with journal entries and general ledger maintenance Prepare financial reports relating to cash flow, project performance, and budget variance Support payroll processing, including timesheet data entry Assist with VAT and CIS compliance and reporting Provide documentation and support for audits and financial reviews Perform general administrative and finance support duties Experience, Skills and Attributes Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or finance support role (ideally within construction or civil engineering) Knowledge of accounting principles, VAT, and CIS requirements Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment AAT qualified or working towards a relevant finance qualification Desirable: Knowledge of civil engineering project financials and cost management Experience with Xero software Understanding of construction contracts (lump sum, time & materials, etc.) Hours & Benefits Hours: Monday to Friday 38 hours per week Salary: Competitive (based on experience) Holidays: 30 days including public holidays Benefits: Flexible working hours, training and development opportunities For further information on this opportunity, or if you are considering the next step in your career, please contact Ollie Mairs at HireIQ in complete confidence Skills: Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Bank Reconciliation Payroll Administration Benefits: Work From Home
