Job Purpose / Overview
Reporting directly to the Outage, Project and Reliability Manager, the Outage, Project and Reliability (OPR) Engineer is responsible for supporting the E&M function to achieve optimal station performance, availability and reliability through plant performance analysis, project delivery and maintenance execution.
The successful applicant will play an integral role in supporting outage management, plant reliability analysis, delivering plant improvements from concept through to completion and the management of statutory maintenance.
West Burton CCGT Power Station consists of three 440 MW multi‑shaft CCGT units and a 49 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The role requires the holder to work within their area of expertise and expand skills and knowledge to meet the growing needs of the business. This requires strong leadership credentials, self‑motivation and a proactive approach in order to deliver a positive contribution to the successful operation of the plant. The post holder will be expected to make decisions and be held accountable for those decisions within the scope of their role.
Principal Accountabilities
* Support the Outage, Projects and Reliability Manager in delivering the CCGT outage management strategy, leading on areas of outage delivery where required.
* Work closely with the engineering and maintenance team to develop and sustain a high standard of plant and equipment reliability.
* Assist with analysing improvement opportunities in existing site maintenance contracts using cost‑benefit analysis and risk evaluation techniques to identify optimum returns for the business and develop sound business proposals for progression.
* Support implementation of plant modifications and engineering improvements, taking the lead on the full life‑cycle of associated change programmes and ensuring key stakeholders are involved throughout.
* Oversee routine service/maintenance contracts management and contractor management.
* Challenge current thinking and processes to continuously improve standards and develop sound business cases for consideration, driving plant improvements and performance.
* Ensure engineering excellence is achieved by compliance with statutory, regulatory and company guidelines and in accordance with appropriate quality standards.
* Provide technical support to operations where required.

* Strong understanding of regulatory compliance with regards to asset integrity – PSSR, DSEAR, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
* Engineering degree (or equivalent academic qualification) and/or proven experience in E&M of power generation or heavy industry.
* Proven experience in plant equipment, plant engineering and maintenance techniques, asset life preservation, compliance management, budgetary and financial control, health, safety and environmental management and contract management.
* Experience managing equipment subject to high hazard legislation such as DSEAR, COMAH and PSSR.
* Experience in risk‑based maintenance & inspection and its application to outage management.
* Experience in reliability centroid maintenance.
* Experience in producing technical specifications and managing maintenance contracts.
* Previous experience in CCGT Power Plants and mechanical engineering.
* IOSH Managing Safely Certificate or NEBOSH Certificate.
* Membership of a relevant professional institution.
