Purpose

The Operations Supervisor accomplishes department objectives and day-to-day tasks by supervising staff, organizing, and monitoring work processes.


Job Title:

Operations Supervisor


Contract:

Full Time, Permanent


Location:

Coleshill, Birmingham - B46 1HQ


Salary:

£36,000 per annum


Hours of work:

Mon-Fri, 50hrs/wk


Reporting to:

Operations Manager


Main Duties

1. Ensure the team has planned and managed all vehicles effectively and profitably.
2. Supervise drivers and the office team daily.
3. Be prepared to cover resourcing issues or gaps as required.
4. Ensure the team updates and progresses accordingly.
5. Allocate jobs to drivers in accordance with the Working Time Directive/driver hours regulation.
6. Serve as a main contact point for staff during shifts.
7. Ensure all jobs are priced, completed, and invoiced.
8. Liaise with drivers and customers regarding delays and issues.
9. Update relevant spreadsheets to reflect service standards.
10. Handle calls and requests from internal and external customers.
11. Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to foster team spirit.
12. Monitor subcontractors and agencies to ensure efficient service within budget.
13. Oversee daily task completion across all areas.


Experience

* High level of customer care and strong administrative background.
* Experience supervising/managing people.
* Practical knowledge of Drivers Hours regulations.
* Knowledge of the logistics industry.
* Effective time management and planning skills.
* Ability to promote company values and foster loyalty.
* Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers.


Skills & Attributes

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional telephone manner.
* Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
* Experience in a similar role is desirable.
* Proficiency in IT and ability to learn new procedures.
* Ability to implement and write new procedures.
* Positive attitude and strong people management skills.
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads effectively.
