Senior Ecologist

Permanent Full‑time – Salary: £30,000 – £40,000. Hybrid working, flexible hours.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in delivering a diverse range of ecological projects across infrastructure, utilities, and renewable sectors. You will work closely with project managers and technical specialists to provide high‑quality ecological advice and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practice.
Key responsibilities
* Plan, manage, and deliver ecological surveys and assessments (e.g. Phase 1/UKHab, protected species, habitat and impact assessments).
* Prepare and review high‑quality ecological reports, including EIAs, HRAs, and mitigation strategies.
* Provide clear and practical ecological advice to clients and project teams.
* Lead and mentor junior ecologists, supporting their professional development.
* Engage with regulators, local authorities, and stakeholders to support project delivery.
About you
* Degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
* Demonstrable experience in ecological consultancy or related field.
* Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, policy, and best practice guidance.
* Protected species licence(s) desirable (e.g. bat, GCN).
* Membership (or eligibility for membership) of CIEEM.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
