Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic Pharmacists to join our team of Clinical Rotational Pharmacists. Our programme offers a diverse range of development opportunities for pharmacists with an interest in honing their clinical knowledge, as well as pursuing leadership and management opportunities.
Our team of 25 Clinical Rotational Pharmacists participate in 12-month rotations across all 5 divisions within the trust, giving the post holder the opportunity to experience an unrivalled breadth of clinical pharmacy practice and professional development.
Our Pharmacy Department
Our progressive and friendly pharmacy department consists of approximately 300 staff. The department provides clinical services to diverse patient groups across a wide range of therapeutic areas, including many highly specialised services. The department prioritises inclusion of all staff and supports everyone to achieve their potential.
Within CUH Pharmacy, there is a strong sense of team spirit and many opportunities to work with colleagues from other clinical specialties. Well-being of staff is a priority, and the Pharmacy Staff Well-being Forum frequently hosts social events and coordinates efforts to positively support wellbeing of the Pharmacy team.

Main duties of the job
To provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to ward(s) within specialist area. To deliver designated performance objectives specific to the allocated rotation area(s).
Our Clinical Rotational Pharmacists participate in extended clinical rotations in a vast range of specialties across the hospital.

* Surgery
* Gastroenterology
* Trauma & Orthopaedics
* Vascular surgery
* Pre-admission clinics
* Critical Care
* Oncology and Haematology x2
* Medicine: Emergency and Acute Medicine, General Medicine, Respiratory, Renal, Hepatology, Elderly care, Infectious diseases
* Solid Organ Transplant
* Neurosciences: Neurology and Stroke, Neurosurgery
* Cardiology, Diabetes and Endocrinology
* Paediatrics
* Women’s Health

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Masters level degree in pharmacy.
* Post-graduate preregistration year.
* Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Completed Certificate (Year 1) of Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice and studying for completion of year.
Desirable
* Completed year 1 and year 2 of Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/General Pharmacy Practice.
* MSc in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent).
* Qualified and registered as an Independent prescriber.
* Risk management training. Professional and final accuracy checking.
Experience
* Essential: Moderate post-registration hospital experience including prescription screening in inpatients/outpatients, medicines reconciliation, medicines information, experience of preparative services (TPN/chemotherapy); capable of documenting in medical notes; experience in writing drug policies/guidelines; evidence of clinical audit.
* Desirable: Recent hospital experience, teaching hospital experience, more than one hospital; Band 7 experience; publications; tutoring; drug expenditure analysis; horizon scanning.
Knowledge
* Good clinical knowledge of drugs and therapeutic trends in general medicine and surgery.
* Knowledge of NICE/NPSA guidance and local implementation.
* Knowledge of healthcare systems and NHS changes.
* Computer literate with Word, PowerPoint and Excel; teaching visuals; pharmacy computer systems.
Skills
* Good organisation/time management; ability to prioritise; self-motivated; strong written and verbal communication; able to present and write reports; good consultation skills; ability to influence and negotiate; teamwork; ability to listen and act on direction.
