About the Role
Double R Racing, a long established and Championship Winning team in junior single-seater racing, is looking for a passionate and experienced Number 1 Mechanic to join our team as we move towards racing in Euro Cup 3 and Formula 4 for 2026. As our Number 1 Mechanic, you’ll play a pivotal role in preparing, maintaining, and running our race cars to the highest standard at the workshop and trackside. You’ll lead by example, oversee a car crew, and be responsible for ensuring the car is competitive, compliant, and ready to win. Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation, setup, and maintenance of race cars across all race meetings and test events.
* Work closely with engineers to ensure vehicle performance, reliability, and safety.
* Supervise and support a small team of mechanics – providing guidance and ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
* Perform pitlane duties and rapid on-event diagnostics under pressure.
* Ensure all work meets team standards and follows relevant technical regulations.
* Maintain clear records of work carried out, damage reports, and component lifting.
* Travel with the team to national and international events is required.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Number 1 or senior mechanic in a professional motorsport environment (F4, GB3, F3, or equivalent).
* Strong mechanical knowledge of single-seater race cars.
* Leadership and communication skills to manage a crew and work effectively under pressure.
* A meticulous, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail.
* Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends.
* Full UK driving licence (HGV licence is an advantage).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
