Position: Assistant to Harvesting Manager / Shift Manager
Shift pattern: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, every weekend and 3 other days of the week.
Salary: Up to 35k, with 28 days holiday per annum.

Overall Purpose Of The Role
Assist the Harvesting Manager in managing the harvesting department, ensuring desired pick rates for efficient crop harvesting, planning and organizing the houses, managing Pickers & Placers, Supervisors, training, H&S, and food safety.
Duties
* Ensure picking quality and quantity meet targets per hour per picker.
* Train, coach, and mentor staff and supervisors to achieve pick rate targets.
* Complete Manning plans and organize staff, including agency workers if needed.
* Make staffing decisions and plan recruitment.
* Assess crop conditions daily and adjust staffing and plans accordingly.
* Ensure proper graze picking to maximize yield and quality.
* Maintain high standards for product presentation, including weights, sizing, and quality checks.
* Participate in daily morning meetings to plan the next day's work.
* Plan picking schedules to fulfill customer orders.
* Ensure new workers follow safety procedures and training schedules.
* Promote teamwork to meet daily targets.
* Coordinate with team leaders and managers regarding team issues, yields, machinery.
* Record daily picker sheets for payroll.
* Monitor and evaluate picking statistics, enforce minimum targets, and discipline when necessary.
* Work safely according to protocols and report issues promptly.
* Address and rectify performance or safety issues timely.
* Promote industry best practices and technological improvements.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, HACCP, and legal standards.
* Participate in food safety teams and promote GMP and housekeeping standards.
* Control waste and contribute to continuous improvement.
* Maintain hygiene and safety standards in all work activities.
* Liaise with senior management on relevant matters.
* Engage in personal development through training and experience.
* Perform other duties as required, with flexibility in working hours.
