About the role
Nest Newborn Clinic at Gold Coast Private Hospital is seeking a paediatrician to join our growing service. Nest offers a ready-made role that is clinically stimulating, financially rewarding, and designed for family-friendly balance.
Working alongside the founding neonatologist, you’ll care for infants and children in brand-new consulting suites. You’ll inherit a steady stream of newborn families via our structured follow-up pathway and benefit from a strong, expanding obstetric referral base, an experienced practice team, and fully developed private-practice infrastructure.
What you’ll be doing
Providing outpatient paediatric care for infants, toddlers and older children.
Leading structured newborn follow-ups at 4 and 6 months, with ongoing care through childhood.
Collaborating with obstetric, neonatal and nursing colleagues to deliver seamless, family-centred care.
Contributing to service growth, education, quality improvement and (if desired) research/teaching.
Limited on-call: occasional weekday/weekend cover to support the neonatal service, no inpatient paediatrics, all neonatal inpatients handed off to the neonatologist.
About you
FRACP (General Paediatrics) or nearing completion. AHPRA specialist registration (or eligibility).
Interest in newborn/early infant care.
Warm, collegial and family-centred clinical style.
Keen to build a long-term private practice within a supportive, values-driven team.
Ready-made private practice: brand-new bespoke consulting suites, modern IT, administrative staff, billing & marketing support.
Built-in referral base: 400+ newborn families per year handed over at 4 & 6 months, plus scope to grow your own general paediatric caseload.
Excellent remuneration: consultant-level earnings (~$300k+ pa) while working part-time (~0.5 FTE), with strong potential to expand as your paediatric caseload grows.
Lifestyle-friendly: limited on-call, no routine inpatient rounding, protected clinic time, flexible scheduling, built-in cover for leave.
Modern setting: Level 4 SCN with advanced capabilities and experienced staff, adjacent to Gold Coast University Hospital NICU for tertiary support.
Academic links: opportunities with Griffith and Bond Universities for teaching, quality improvement and research, if desired.
Gold Coast lifestyle: 300+ days of sunshine, beaches, hinterland, excellent schools and family amenities.
