Key Responsibilities;

Providing line management and supervision for the RDA support workforce while maintaining specialist clinical radiographic skills.
Delivering HR responsibilities for the RDA staff group, alongside day‑to‑day operational duties.
Deputising for the Daily Coordinators when required to support smooth departmental operations.
Acting as a key link between Radiologists and the RDA team to ensure the efficiency, quality, and continuity of the Radiology service.

Main duties of the job

Main duties;

Provide line management and supervision for the RDA staff group within Radiology while maintaining specialist clinical radiographic skills.
Ensure safe and appropriate RDA staffing levels, including:
arranging cover for staff sickness
arranging cover for gaps in the out‑of‑hours rota
Organise and prioritise daily workload within delegated areas of responsibility, maximising efficiency and making best use of available resources.
Apply professional judgement and experience to ensure that best clinical practice is consistently upheld.
Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations and produce high‑quality diagnostic images:
across a wide range of clinical specialities, including more specialised modalities
for a diverse range of patient types
both autonomously and as part of a multi‑professional team
in accordance with professional, departmental, and legal standards
Deliver a high standard of patient care to individuals with varied and often complex needs.
Independently assess each patient and adapt radiographic techniques to meet their clinical and physical requirements.
Participate in out‑of‑hours duties, including standby, on‑call, and weekend working.
Deputise for the Daily Coordinator Radiographer when required to support smooth operational delivery.

Qualifications And Training

Essential criteria

BSc in Radiography (or equivalent)

Desirable criteria

Experience in line management and supervision of a staff group
Evidence of post graduate education

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

Extensive clinical experience and more specialised clinical experience in one of the following, CT/ MRI/ PET CT, IR or Cardiac Radiography
Experience of operational management of a staff group within a department
Knowledge and experience in dealing with a variety of HR procedures

Desirable criteria

Experience in line management and supervision of a staff group
Knowledge and experience in dealing with a variety of HR and financial procedures

Specific Skills

Essential criteria

Current/previous team management experience
Ability to prioritise and work to own deadlines making effective use of time
Effective and proactive leadership skills to ensure efficient team working, staff development and service improvement, to contribute to the Trust's Business Plan and longer-term strategies

Desirable criteria

Ability to demonstrate negotiation skills to justify clinical prioritisation

Emotional Effort

Essential criteria

Leadership, team building and motivating skills to enable staff to work effectively and maximise potential

Desirable criteria

Experience in dealing with conflict resolution or where decision-making is challenged
