We're recruiting for a Senior Designer to join an ambitious digital agency based in Derby. We're looking for someone who can lead the design process from discovery through to delivery. Running workshops, interviewing stakeholders, shaping creative direction, and producing high-quality work across web, e-commerce, and brand. This is a hands-on role with strategic input, for someone who enjoys both thinking and making. The ideal person will come from an agency or in-house design background, with a strong portfolio that shows both strategic thinking and craft. You'll be confident leading conversations with clients, translating business objectives into design direction, and owning projects end to end. You'll be able to manage your own time and priorities, guide clients through decisions with clarity, and stay curious. Keeping your skills and thinking sharp while focusing on what actually moves the needle. Requirements 5 years' experience in a design role, ideally agency-side, with a portfolio that demonstrates both strategic thinking and quality execution Experience leading discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and other research activities that shape project direction Proven ability to contribute to and lead sales pitches, presenting concepts that help win work Comfortable shaping creative direction and project scope, not just executing briefs handed to you Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, design systems, and prototyping Solid understanding of responsive web design, mobile-first principles, and designing within real-world development constraints Confident presenting to senior client stakeholders, guiding decisions, and building trusted relationships Experience working alongside developers to bring designs to life, with an understanding of clean, practical handover Proven ability to manage multiple projects across different clients, delivering work on time without sacrificing quality Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach for different audiences, from internal teams to client boardrooms Experience conducting UX audits, identifying usability issues, and translating findings into actionable design recommendations Desirable Skills An interest in how good design supports commercial outcomes, not just aesthetics Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) E-commerce design experience, particularly WooCommerce or similar platforms Basic understanding of HTML and CSS to support more build-aware design decisions Experience working on brand identity and visual systems Experience mentoring or supporting junior and mid-weight designers Involvement in scoping or estimating design work as part of project planning Interest in growing into a design leadership role Who We Are The Digital Maze is an agency that has grown via the acquisition of 3 well respected and growing agencies within the midlands Frogspark Boom Online Marketing Evolve Retail We are a Strategic Performance Marketing & WordPress/WooCommerce agency dedicated to driving growth for Home & Garden, Lifestyle, D2C, SaaS, and Service brands with £5M–£50M in revenue.
