About the Role
We are seeking a committed and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting children and young people in a nurturing residential care setting in Accrington. This is a key role within the home, offering both hands-on care and leadership to help shape a safe, stable and supportive environment where every young person can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day care, support and guidance to children and young people, promoting their physical, emotional and social development.
* Act as a role model, mentoring, supporting and coaching junior members of staff to uphold the highest standards of care.
* Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the smooth running of the home, contributing to team meetings and planning.
* Take the lead during shifts, including handling challenging situations confidently and professionally.
* Ensure safeguarding and welfare responsibilities are carried out in line with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
* Support children and young people in line with their individual care plans, helping them to achieve positive outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records, logs and reports, and contribute to reviews and assessments.
* Participate in regular training and development opportunities to ensure best practice is maintained.
About You
* Minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
* At least two years of experience working in a children's residential care setting.
* Proven ability to lead shifts and provide coaching and guidance to less experienced staff.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and the legislative and regulatory framework for children's residential care.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
* A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable young people.
* A full UK driving licence is preferred due to the rural location of the home.
