You will be working for an employee-owned construction consultancy who offer a range of property and construction consultancy services to provide creative, sustainable solutions and deliver outcomes for our clients.
They were established in 2006, and are now a leading construction consultancy specialising in the delivery of capital projects for a range of clients spanning a range of sectors including the education sector (independent, statutory, further and higher), health, transport, commercial and R&D. They operate in all regions from offices in Chelmsford, London and Preston. They offer a variety of services including project and programme management, cost management, strategic consultancy, surveying, architecture and town planning advice.
Your new role
As Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for the delivery of a range of construction projects and provide a comprehensive project management service. This newly created post is seen as integral to the expansion of business in the north of England. As well as taking responsibility for the delivery of existing projects and new projects, the successful candidate will be expected to help expand the client base and services delivery offer across the region.
Main Activities
1. Managing capital projects from inception through to completion, including, but not limited to
2. Organising / chairing / minuting meetings
3. Co-ordinating project-related activities with other members of the project team
4. Formulating / managing project programmes
5. Stakeholder engagement
6. Risk management
7. Advice on statutory consents / compliance
8. Procurement advice including consultants / specialist advice / contractors
9. Report writing
10. Supporting client’s governance requirements
11. Contract administration
12. Managing budgets
13. Ensuring that all projects are managed in accordance with Practice Quality Management system.
14. Contributing towards the expansion of the business both in terms of client base and service offer
What you\'ll need to succeed
Essential Requirements:
15. Relevant qualifications / membership of a recognised professional body
16. A proven track record fulfilling a similar role(s)
17. Demonstratable experience of managing a range of capital projects differing in terms of scale and nature within the education sector
18. From a property, construction or estates background
19. Excellent presentation skills, with the confidence and ability to present at client meetings and when tendering for new work
20. Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with a wide range of people and gain trust and respect from clients
21. Able to handle sensitive situations firmly with tact and diplomacy
22. Attention to detail
23. Be client and quality focused
24. Be able to operate with a high level of initiative and self-motivation
25. Willingness to travel throughout the north of England (and possibly across the east and West Midlands)
26. Must be a team player with a pro-active management style
27. Excellent IT skills (specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project)
Desirable Requirements:
28. Strategic property consultancy experience such as preparation of Estates Strategies /capital funding bids or a willingness to learn
29. Experience of project management in other industry sectors

36 hours per week (flexible working hours, remote working)
