Our client is an established engineering business specialising in the design, build, and installation of bespoke automation, robotics, and control systems. Operating across a range of industrial sectors
including food and beverage, packaging, and plastics
they deliver innovative automation projects to clients across the UK, North America, and beyond.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an
Electromechanical Fitter / Installer
to join their expanding team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, bespoke automation systems.
The Role
Working both in-house and on customer sites, youll play a key role in assembling, installing, and commissioning automation machinery and systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, variety, and travel.
Reporting to the Workshop Manager (in-house) and the Services Director (on-site), youll take ownership of mechanical builds, assist with electrical connections, and ensure every system is delivered to the highest standards.
Typical duties include:
Mechanical assembly of automation systems, conveyors, and control equipment
Installation and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and method statements
Supporting system commissioning and customer training
Ensuring all work meets quality and health & safety standards
Occasional international travel for installation and commissioning (mainly USA/Canada)
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Apprentice-trained or qualified Mechanical and/or Electrical Fitter
Competent using a wide range of hand and power tools
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work independently
Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Excellent communication skills and customer-facing confidence
Full UK driving licence (max. 3 penalty points)
Ability to travel and work away from home (UK & overseas)
Desirable:
Electrical wiring experience (advantageous but not essential)
Experience working in hygienic or food-grade environments
Familiarity with pneumatic systems, valves, and medium-sized assemblies
British/EU passport holder (must be eligible for USA/Canada travel)
