A well‑established, values‑led organisation in Cornwall is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the Head of Finance and play a key role within the wider finance team. Your new role
Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will take responsibility for core financial accounting activities and support the ongoing development of a data‑driven finance function.Key responsibilities will include:
1. Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
2. Month‑end and year‑end close processes
3. Production of VAT returns and support with statutorypliance
4. Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
5. Management of the sales ledger and associated reconciliations
6. Preparation of budgets and forecasts
7. Drafting elements of statutory accounts and supporting the annual external audit
8. Implementing and streamlining financial policies and procedures
9. Supporting ad‑hoc financial analysis, reporting and projects
This role offers exposure to both operational and strategic finance, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, controls and continuous improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
10. A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or QBE or PQ)
11. Strong understanding of financial accounting principles
12. Experience producing management accounts and statutory‑supporting reports
13. Confidence with month‑end processes, reconciliations and VAT
14. Good working knowledge of accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
15. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
16. Ability to work collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independently
Both fully qualified and part‑qualified candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
