Senior Research Nurse/Team Lead – Haemostasis & Thrombosis

An exciting development opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Research Manager to lead our Haemostasis & Thrombosis research team within the Bleeding Disorder Network for Wales. Excellent communication and people management skills are essential with the ability to inspire a team to reach its potential.
The Haemophilia Centre is the only Comprehensive Care Centre in Wales, aiming to deliver lifespan multi‑disciplinary, patient‑centred care for all patients with inherited bleeding disorders (IBD) and their families. The Centre is enrolled in multi‑centre national and international clinical trials.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide strong leadership, oversight and operational management to the research team, delivering high quality, safe and effective research. They will work collaboratively with the adult and paediatric CNS nursing teams, wider MDT, Swansea colleagues and Haematology Directorate, building effective relationships and motivating others to achieve service excellence.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Leading on specific projects determined by Haematology R&D leads, providing oversight of the clinical board's research portfolio.
* Working with R&D Leads and Investigators (CIs/PIs) in relation to commercial and non‑commercial research projects.
* Providing an important link between R&D, Support and Delivery teams and Investigators within the clinical board, providing specialist R&D knowledge and expertise guiding Investigators through the national and local R&D framework.
* Supporting performance and studies management from early application to close‑down, providing solutions to financial and other resource issues and enabling research project delivery in line with strategic aims.
* Proactively engaging in healthcare professional education about clinical trials, preparing research reports, audits, SOPs and updates for local and national meetings.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* MSc including Patient Clinical Assessments qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
* Evidence of post‑graduate education and professional development
* Use and dissemination of research findings
Experience
* Proven experience of clinical research management and specialist knowledge in the area of clinical speciality
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, incorporating wider mentorship and teaching role
* Significant experience at Band 6 in undertaking research activity and using research techniques, analysis and use of information, including audit activity and acting on findings
* Experience in submissions to regulatory bodies (e.g. R&D, Research Ethics Committees)
Skills
* Advanced leadership and organisational skills – evidence of ability to help/support junior staff and run a portfolio of projects at differing stages of development
* Advanced communication skills – written and verbal
* Advanced analytical and judgement skills
* Evidence of developing highly specialised programmes of care, being an expert resource to patients and colleagues
* Ability to utilise equipment relevant for undertaking specialist therapeutic diagnostic procedures, use IT systems and software to create reports and analyse data
* Computing skills
* Evidence of contribution to research publications
* Ability to appraise junior staff through performance review
Special Knowledge
* Comprehensive knowledge of the ethical, organisational and regulatory environment in which clinical research is conducted
* Proven experience and ability to implement policy and procedures
