The Role EC&I Partners are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer to deliver a range of high-impact design packages for a specialist consultancy working across ATEX/DSEAR-compliant environments. You’ll work on complex industrial projects in sectors such as water, oil & gas, power, chemical, and general process, producing detailed and compliant design documentation using industry-standard software. The role is fully remote and best suited to candidates who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver EC&I engineering packages to ATEX/DSEAR standards Produce and manage technical drawings using AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, and EPLAN Specify and design LV electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systems Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and third parties to develop effective and compliant solutions Participate in remote design reviews and drive continuous improvement in design practices Ensure all documentation aligns with functional safety and electrical regulations Contribute to client-facing discussions and technical meetings where needed Manage your workload independently in a remote-first environment Required Skills and Experience Experience delivering electrical and instrumentation design packages in ATEX/DSEAR environments Strong background in hazardous industries such as water, oil & gas, power, chemical, or process sectors Proficient in technical drawing and system specification Capable of remote working and managing deadlines independently Able to interpret and produce detailed technical diagrams and documentation Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders Comfortable working in a self-directed role without micromanagement Software Proficiency AutoCAD – essential Amtech / Trimble – strongly preferred EPLAN – desirable Must have access to own licences for relevant software Certifications and Qualifications CompEx EX12 (Designers Certificate) – essential 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) – essential Functional Safety (FS Eng – TUV SUD/NORD or ExVeritas) – highly desirable Apply Now This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, experienced E&I Design Engineer looking to join a leading consultancy and work on critical projects in hazardous environments.
