Multi-skilled Operative
Location: Ipswich
Contract: Full Time Permanent
Salary up to £35,278.74per annum, plus, company van & fuel card
42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)
We’re on the lookout for a talented and versatile Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy Repairs and Maintenance contract in Ipswich. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well cared for.
You’ll be working across Repairs and Maintenance properties, responding to day-to-day refurbishment requests that cover roofing carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success.

Duties:
1. Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across social housing properties
2. Completing roofing repairs, Fascia, Soffitand guttering.
3. Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames
4. General Roofing repairs across occupied properties
5. Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors
6. Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
7. Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks
8. Carrying out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings
9. Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
10. Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repair works
11. Ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
12. Working in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
13. Participating in out-of-hours emergency repair rota as required
14. Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope
15. Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
16. Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
17. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
18. Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets
Role Criteria:
19. Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. Roofing,carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
20. Full UK driving licence
21. Previous experience working with roofing repairs.
22. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
23. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
24. Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
25. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
26. Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
27. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
