The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable.


Job overview

The post holder will be a member of a multi-disciplined engineering team and will be expected to organise, with limited supervision the allocation and support of a wide range of medical equipment throughout Cwm Taf Morgannwg. This will include beds (both electrical and airbed mattress controllers), nebulisers, hoists, etc plus medical equipment library items such as infusion devices.

The post holder will be required to plan own workload and liaise with other staff.

The duties of this post are not inflexible or exhaustive and will be reviewed periodically and may be changed to be consistent with the grading of the post as the organisation or department develops and following consultation with the post holder.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure that clinical staff have access to all medical equipment within their responsibility when required.

Plan own workload.

Will provide advice and information to equipment users on the correct and safe use of medical devices including demonstration to clinical staff at all levels when required. At times this may be patient connected.

Complete documentation and enter relevant associated information on the Clinical Engineering departments computer system. Use of software for tasks such as word processing producing spreadsheets etc will also be required.

Maintain and observe department stocks of both library equipment and spare parts to agreed levels.

Carry out the routine checking of work performed by service providers prior to the return of the equipment to the user.

Perform the safe disposal of unwanted, obsolete or dangerous equipment.

Ensuring all items are correctly stored and appropriately decontaminated in accordance with departmental procedures.

Completion of regular checks to identify if there are any beds or other equipment ready for return or infected items awaiting for decontamination.

Ensure all faulty equipment is correctly identified, logged and repaired.

Qualifications

* Good general standard of education


Experience

* Experience working in an equipment support environment
* Experience of working with Microsoft Office.


Skills

* Excellent communication and customer care skills and a good telephone manner
* Ability to communicate technical information to colleagues and manufacturers/suppliers


Knowledge

* Understanding and functionality of Dynamic mattresses and profiling bed systems.
