Head of Operations (Remote)
£50,000 – £65,000 | Manchester (Remote-first)
This is not a clipboard-and-checklists role.
Our client is a well-established consultancy of Building Surveyors and Project Managers with over 20 years’ expertise across Building Safety, Surveying and Domestic Retrofit. Following sustained growth over the last five-plus years, they are now appointing a Head of Operations to professionalise, streamline and scale the business.
This role sits at the heart of the organisation. You will translate strategy into execution, ensuring the business runs efficiently day-to-day while building the operational foundations required for continued growth.
The Role
As Head of Operations, you will take ownership of how the business functions operationally — people, process, performance and profit.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and delivering operational strategies aligned to long-term business objectives
* Taking full oversight of day-to-day operations across multiple departments
* Managing operational budgets, analysing financial performance and driving cost-effective decision-making
* Leading, mentoring and motivating cross-functional teams, embedding accountability and continuous improvement
* Identifying operational risks and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, quality standards and best practice
* Building strong working relationships with internal project leads, external supply chain partners and clients
* Defining, tracking and reporting KPIs to measure performance and drive operational excellence
* Driving process optimisation through effective use of systems, data and technology (ERP, analytics and project management platforms)
About You
You will be a proven operational leader with the confidence and credibility to run a growing consultancy.
You will bring:
* Significant experience in a senior operations role, with several years at leadership level (essential)
* Strong commercial and financial acumen
* A track record of improving efficiency, scalability and performance
* Solid understanding of supply chain management, quality control and process optimisation methodologies
* Confidence working with ERP systems, data analytics and operational software
* A people-first leadership style with the ability to bring teams with you
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership position within a values-led, growing consultancy where your impact will be immediate and visible. You’ll be trusted to shape how the business operates — not just maintain it.
If you enjoy building structure, improving performance and helping a business reach its next stage of growth, this role will suit you down to the ground.
