SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within primary schools across the Rotherham area. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs reach their full potential.
You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop key social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN or SEMH needs
• Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Help create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
• Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reports and records
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• Experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A calm, patient, and supportive approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices
Desirable
• Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, childcare, or support work
• Experience in a school, care, youth work, or mental health support setting
