Senior lecturer in medical education (lead for quality assurance)

An enthusiastic and creative team of medical educators are working within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences to develop a new School of Medicine, and we are looking for a Lead for Quality Assurance to join the team at this exciting time. The successful candidate will focus on supporting the Course Director with quality assurance and student progress over the four years of the School of Medicine curriculum.


The role

* Work alongside the Course Director in the leadership and delivery of the School’s quality assurance processes over all four years.
* Deputise in chairing the Student Progress and Support Committee (SPSC), ensuring students have the support they need to meet the learning outcomes of the course.
* Contribute to teaching across biomedical sciences, general medicine and specialties.
* Deliver high‑quality large and small group teaching, including case‑based learning, team‑based learning, special study units, and clinical and communication skills sessions.
* Participate in the admissions process, standard setting, writing knowledge test questions and OSCEs, and support OSCE examining.
* optionally take the role as a joint appointment in tandem with existing clinical duties, potentially allowing the current NHS salary to apply.


About You

* Full registration with the GMC and a higher professional qualification (usually a doctoral degree or equivalent).
* Experience providing high‑quality teaching and a significant academic publication record.
* Evidence of scholarly contributions to conferences, professional meetings, and societies.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to use tact, diplomacy and empathy to build effective working relationships and influence, persuade and negotiate effectively.
* A forward‑looking, ‘can‑do’ attitude and ambition to drive innovation in medical education, particularly in clinical skills.
