Job Title: Assistant Headteacher
Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
We are currently seeking an Assistant Headteacher to join a specialist Independent College for students in school years 10-13 (KS4/5) with Autism and associated needs based in Bromsgrove.
The organisation believes in offering every pupil a fresh start and a chance to turn a previous negative learning experience in to a positive one. Duties of the Assistant Headteacher role will include:
* Providing outstanding leadership and management across the College.
* Drive school improvement strategies and deliver exceptional teaching and learning.
* Oversee pupil progress, assessment, and curriculum standards.
* Lead, manage, and support teaching staff across both sites.
* Deputise for the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher when required.
* Lead daily operations in teaching and learning, ensuring high-quality provision.
* Promote safeguarding excellence and deliver safeguarding training.
* Contribute to staff wellbeing, professional development, and performance appraisals.
* Build strong partnerships with families, professional services, and community groups.
* Maintain accurate records and attend multi-agency meetings to support pupils effectively.
Qualifications/Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – essential.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an SEND environment or similar provision.
* Proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership.
* Strong understanding of the OFSTED framework and independent school standards.
* Committed to improving outcomes for students with Autism and other special educational needs.
* Skilled in managing a range of behavioural needs and supporting staff practice.
* Passionate about safeguarding, mental health, and wellbeing.
