RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. – Hydrographic Surveyor, full time, permanent, functional area: Engineering. Seeking a hydrographic surveyor to join our Geophysics & Metocean team within RWE Renewables, contributing to a global portfolio of offshore wind projects across all stages.
About the role
* Contribute to the delivery of offshore and onshore hydrographic, topographic, and positioning data for renewable energy projects.
* Support development and continuous improvement of onshore and offshore hydrographic survey design and specification, and assist with technical tender assessment.
* Coordinate the collation and review of survey data, ensuring deliveries of consistent, high‑quality and accurate outputs.
* Work closely with Senior Surveyors to align with current best‑practice, share knowledge, provide clear technical advice, and ensure standards are followed.
* Bring experience in UXO and geohazards identification and mitigation, mapping of seabed and subsurface features, and hydrographic and topographic data management.
* Travel within the UK and internationally as required, and provide occasional technical support outside standard working hours as part of a wider survey team.
Role requirements and experience
* MSc in (or equivalent degree or suitable experience in) hydrographic survey, or a relevant geospatial discipline.
* Experience with shallow water hydrographic surveys.
* Experience working with large and varied hydrographic datasets (e.g., MBES, CARIS projects, surface and subsea navigation data), including quality control and review.
* Experience reviewing technical reports and managing large technical datasets.
* Familiarity with current and emerging hydrographic and nearshore survey techniques, and industry specialist software (e.g., ArcGIS, CARIS, Qinsy/Qimera, EIVA).
* Commitment to and knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation and industry codes for offshore wind surveys.
* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams with clear communication skills.
* Desire to contribute to the global energy transition and large‑scale offshore wind developments.
