About the Hiscox Data Team
The Hiscox Data Team is transforming data maturity across the organisation to accelerate business growth and efficiency using Data, Analytics, and AI. The virtual team consists of a central function driving alignment, Business Unit teams identifyingcommercial value and providing execution capacity and technology providing for Data Engineering and ML Operations services.

The Role
The role is responsible for implementing the Data Management component of the Data Strategy Action Plan to drive data innovation, enhance data fluency, improve data quality, and overall maximize data and analytics utilization as a key value creator forHiscox.
Reporting to the Group Head of Data Management, the Group Data Manager ensures active data ownership and executive understanding of data's value in operations. The Group Data Manager is an expert in core Data Management and Data Governance delivery.
We are seeking an accomplished Data professional who knows what good looks like, has successfully delivered DataManagement and Data Governance in their previous roles, has a strategic mindset with a highly pragmatic approach toidentifying and delivering business value through good data management practices.Experience of a matrix management environment is essential.
This role manages the Data Management resources within the Group Data team, andleads the collaboration across the Heads of Data and their data teams in the Business Units to ensure there is a engaged aligned data community in Hiscox.
The Group Data Manager supports the Group Head of Data Management in the overall internal engagement and quality assurance of the work being produced by the Business Unit Data teams. The Group Data Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for Hiscox stakeholders, oversight of all deliverables, ensure alignment with the Hiscox Data Strategy and Hiscox Group Data Policy, and steer the execution of the work plan. This role also provides strategic guidance on data governance practices and ensures the integration of technical efforts with business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management delivery and maturity
1. Drive the ‘Lift and shift’ of an existing instance of Informatica Cloud Data Governance Catalogue (IDMC), to an enterprise deployment, including the configuration and implementation across the Business Units.
2. Working with Data Management colleagues at Group level and within the BUs to embed Data Ownership and accountability for data within the business.
3. Oversight and support to the Heads of Data and Business Units discovery and delivery of:
4. Key Data Element (KDE) identification, metadata capture and tagging of those KDE’s (i.e. to apps and business processes)
5. identification of appropriate Data Owners and Data Stewards for KDE’s
6. documentation of Data Lineage for KDE’s
7. the discovery of existing Data Quality rules and Controls for KDE’s, and the delivery of new appropriate effective Controls for KDE’s
8. Master and Reference data management
9. Support the Group Head of Data Management in the implementation and running of the appropriate Data Forums, both at Group level, and oversight of the Business Unit Data Forums and Working Groups.
10. Support the Group Head of Data Management in the implementation of appropriate effective Data Risks and Controls across Hiscox.Support the Heads of Data to proactively identify, quantify, monitor, and mitigate data risks pertinent to their business unit, implementing robust controls and comprehensive remediation plans where necessary.
11. Support the embedding of good data management into the HiscoxChange delivery framework
12. Help to create a modern, robust data governance capability to drive compliant, secure and effective usage of data across Hiscox.
Leadership
13. As a senior leader in the Data community oversee all data-related activities across Hiscox, ensuring alignment with both commercial objectives and the broader organisational strategy.
14. Assess the progress and success of the data management components of the Data Strategy deliverythrough clearly articulated metrics and outcomes.
15. Foster and maintain strong professional relationships with senior executives and leaders organisation-wide, particularly with the Heads of Data in each Business Unit.
16. Delegate for the Group Head of Data Management in all aspects of decision making, when required.
17. Chairs the variousdata related Working Groupsled by the Group Data team.
18. Delegates for the Group Head of Data Management in the Group Data Forum.
19. Drive and monitorthe adoption and operationalisation of data capabilities by the business units, ensuring full compliance with the Hiscox Group Data Framework, Data Policy, associated standards, processes, strategic data tools, platforms, and reference architecture.
20. Foster the self servicecapability within the business units, ensuring the operational adoption of new tools and capabilities delivered by Group across Hiscox.
Delivery & Change Management
21. Supports the Heads of Data in their formulation of their Annual Data Plans and their roadmaps for their Business Unit for which aligns to the Group Data Strategy, Group Data Governance Framework and Group Data Policy.
22. Coordinate and support the data-related aspects within the change framework for projects, including the management of third-party vendors and suppliers engaged in data services relevant to the business unit and its data assets.
23. Oversight of both the business and technical scope of data requirements for the business, ensuring alignment and strategic fit with the Data Strategy.
24. Support the Group Head of Data Managementto manage 3rd party suppliers supporting delivery.
25. Supports Data Assessments of maturity and compliance with the Group Data Policy.

Person Specification
34. Expertise in the configuration and deployment of Informatica Data Catalogue, and related components of IDMC (Data Lineage, Data Quality, MDM etc).
35. Proven track recordin delivering Data Management capabilities in a complex environment.
36. Proven track record as a senior leader, Financial Services preferred but not essential
37. Excellent communicator and recognising when to adapt their use of language and terminology according to the stakeholderslevel of knowledge and awareness.
38. Experience in working with senior leaders to drive forward transformation agenda.
39. Established record of the successful delivery of data capabilities operationally (i.e. beyond the technical implementation, the adoption and use in the business).
40. Knows what good looks like, can clearly define and describe this in simple terms.
41. Strong operational experience across multiple data disciplines.
