The Opportunity
Essex County Council is seeking an Education Access Specialist - Quality Assurance to join our team. The role involves ensuring that alternative education provision meets the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs, Additional Needs, and Disabilities. The specialist will work to identify and assess needs early, provide impactful support, and monitor attendance and safeguarding, aligning with the Education Act 1996.
The role involves working with internal and external leaders to challenge and improve pupil safety, progression, and attainment, ensuring contractual obligations are met and quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
* Ensure external alternative education providers comply with ECC's duties under the Education Act 1996.
* Develop and oversee strategic attendance and safeguarding processes.
* Manage safeguarding matters as the designated lead and act as the point of contact for providers.
* Implement systems supporting safeguarding, attendance, and quality assurance across settings.
* Conduct regular quality assurance visits and challenge providers to address issues.
* Analyze data and report to the Quality Assurance board.
Experience and Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience working with schools and alternative providers.
* Qualified safeguarding lead (Level 3).
* Experience influencing senior leaders.
* Knowledge of education regulations relating to alternative education and contractual arrangements.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Mobility and access to a vehicle are required.
