Band 6 Specialised Cardiac Physiologist with an Interest in CRM

The closing date is 08 December 2025

This is an exciting development opportunity for a Specialised Cardiac Physiologist with an interest in CRM to join a busy, established Device Service in a friendly Cardiology Department.

Based at Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will be supported and encouraged to develop the knowledge and skills to gain BHRS/IBHRE accreditation. You will be exposed to all aspects of the CRM Service including device implant and follow up including Conduction System Pacing and S‑ICD implant.

There will also be a requirement to cover other aspects of diagnostic cardiac physiology, to include angiography, exercise tolerance testing and Holter analysis.

On occasion there may be a requirement to support services at other sites within the Trust.


Main duties of the job

* Perform highly specialised Cardiac Physiology investigations and interventions including:
* Perform advanced physiological testing during pacemaker, CRT‑P and ICD/CRT‑D implantation and follow‑up with analysis of highly complex data and diagnostic information.
* Independent prescription and evaluation of device therapy and programming ensuring individualised device optimisation.
* Additionally, perform a broad range of clinical investigations undertaken within the Cardiac Physiology Service including, but not limited to:
* Performance, analysis and interpretation of resting ECGs, including independent interpretation for Direct Access patients.
* Manage physiologist‑led Exercise Tolerance Testing
* Cardiac catheterisation (including complex cases)
* Permanent pacemaker and implantable loop recorder implantation and follow‑up

Person Specification


Qualifications

* BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent)
* Working towards highly specialist post basic courses to Masters level or equivalent
* RCCP / AHCS registration
* BHRS/IBHRE accreditation
* Professional Body Exams (ASCST)


Experience

* Competent in invasive and non‑invasive cardiology diagnostic techniques
* Competent and independently working in Brady follow‑up and Brady Implanting
* Working towards independent and competence in Complex device follow‑up and implant.
* ILS
* Ability to work as an independent practitioner.
* Confident to input to training of students and apprentices.
* Evidence of successfully passing the IBHRE or BHRS examination and working towards to full accreditation.


Additional Criteria

* Evidence of excellent communication skills at all levels including verbal, non‑verbal and written.
* Ability to communicate with all members of the multidisciplinary team, relatives and patients
* Ability to use initiative and show self‑motivation
* Capable of prioritisation.
* Confident to liaise with other staff groups (Consultant staff, Medical staff, Nursing staff and peer groups)
* Must be able to work as a team member
* Good interpersonal skills
* Motivation
* Flexibility & Adaptability
* Ability to work in a challenging and busy environment to tight deadlines
* To be able to relate and respond to complex and sensitive issues
* Flexible and reliable
* Possible 7 day working
* Ability to work cross site / in community diagnostic hubs
* Ability to work on call (essential when required)
* Computer skills and word processing
