Energy advice worker

Various Caritas Sites, Diocese of Salford

Role: Energy Advice Worker – Fixed‑term contract until 30 June 2027, 22.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9 am – 5 pm). Based in Manchester with service visits across Hulme, Bury and Collyhurst.

About the Job

We require an experienced Energy Advice Worker to deliver energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester. Your work will enable the community to reduce energy consumption, lower bill costs, and improve health and well‑being through targeted interventions.

• Deliver one‑to‑one advice sessions, drop‑in surgeries and community presentations in our sites.
• Provide face‑to‑face, telephone, online and home‑visit support, including presentations.
• Work with professional interpreters, including spoken language and British Sign Language.
• Maintain accurate case records and administrative tasks.
• Assist with the application for a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Energy Awareness; training will be paid for by Caritas.

Qualifications & Skills

• Excellent customer‑service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, using initiative to secure positive outcomes.
• Knowledge of energy‑advice or related social support work.
• Good IT and administrative competence.
• Willingness to obtain a Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Energy Awareness.
• Desirable: Full UK driving licence and access to a business‑use car, though not essential.
