We are looking to appoint a Buyer The Buyer will take full ownership of the Company’s purchasing function, driving continuous improvement across procurement processes and supplier management. The role is responsible for sourcing raw materials, sheet metal, aluminium, tooling, consumables, and associated production goods and services in a timely and cost-effective manner to support manufacturing operations. The role requires experience purchasing sheet metal (steel, aluminium and galvanised) and managing subcontract / subcontracted manufacturing processes, while working closely with production to ensure continuity of supply. The Buyer will develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, while identifying and onboarding new suppliers to ensure best value, quality, and delivery performance. Working within established procedures, the Buyer will support operational efficiency across all departments. Purchasing & Order Management Raise, manage, and expedite Purchase Orders to ensure materials are delivered within agreed lead times Respond promptly to purchasing requests from internal departments Create purchase orders using Sage and ensure all order acknowledgements are received Print and document purchase orders, recording time and date sent Follow up with suppliers to confirm receipt of purchase orders Verify order confirmations, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, and lead times Proactively monitor and chase deliveries to ensure production continuity Supplier Management & Negotiation Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure best value for the business Negotiate improved pricing, terms, and conditions where possible Maintain strong relationships with current suppliers and develop relationships with new vendors Manage and coordinate subcontract suppliers and external manufacturing processes Resolve supplier issues relating to delivery, quality, or availability Cost Control & Continuous Improvement Identify and implement cost saving opportunities across procurement activity Carry out cost-benefit analysis to support purchasing decisions Maintain and update materials price spreadsheets Support initiatives aimed at improving purchasing efficiency and reducing costs Systems, Administration & Reporting Create new product codes as required Maintain accurate records using Sage, HubSpot, and Lantek systems Produce and circulate weekly and monthly stock and purchasing reports Scan, file, and maintain historical job packs and purchasing documentation Carry out general purchasing administration duties as required Operational Support Ensure purchasing activity supports production requirements and operational continuity Work closely with production, planning, and administration teams Provide cover for administrative staff during holidays and absences Support departmental KPIs and operational targets Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes · Proven purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment · Experience purchasing sheet metal including steel, aluminium and galvanised materials · Experience managing subcontract / subcontract manufacturing processes · Strong negotiation and communication skills · High attention to detail and accuracy · Self-motivated with ability to work independently · Strong problem-solving skills · Good IT skills, including ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office · Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills · Professional, honest, and trustworthy approach · Positive attitude towards innovation, change, and continuous improvement Benefits: Competitive package for the right candidate.
