Interim Building Surveyor Oxfordshire Part-Time (2-3 days per week) £350-£400 per day 6 months We are seeking an experienced Interim Building Surveyor to support the management and maintenance of a diverse commercial property portfolio for a local authority in Oxfordshire. This includes offices, industrial units, car parks, and retail premises. This is a hands-on surveying role involving condition assessments, overseeing repairs and minor refurbishments, ensuring compliance with building regulations, and supporting the safe operation and upkeep of the council's non-residential assets. The role is part-time, requiring a commitment of 2 to 3 days per week, offering flexibility and competitive day rates. Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular condition surveys and inspections across a range of commercial properties. Identify and manage repair, maintenance, and improvement works. Commission and supervise contractors for repair and renovation works. Ensure all properties meet health and safety requirements and building regulations. Prepare and review technical specifications and tender documentation where required. Collaborate with internal teams (Estates, FM, Health & Safety) and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate records, reports, and schedules of condition. Advise on lifecycle planning and asset management strategies. Provide technical input into property strategy, compliance, and project planning. Essential Skills & Experience: Strong technical knowledge of building surveying practices, legislation, and building standards. Proven experience managing building repairs, refurbishments, and condition surveys. Ability to manage projects from inception through to completion. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Confident working both independently and collaboratively across teams. Desireable: Previous experience working in or with the public sector. Experience with commercial or mixed-use buildings is beneficial but not essential - we welcome applicants with a residential/housing background willing to step into a commercial environment. Familiarity with CDM regulations, health and safety compliance, and statutory maintenance.
