Due to a promotion internally of a post holder, we have the following vacancy available in theatres -
Band 7 Theatre Manager
Main duties of the job
1. Managing the theatre suite as allocated, coordinating staff, and ensuring the safe and effective running of multiple operating lists.
2. Able to provide excellent clinical skills within your area of expertise.
3. Working as part of the theatre management team, participating in a 7-day roster, facilitating handover between day & night teams.
4. Manage theatre allocations daily to ensure skill mix is appropriate for elective and non-elective activity.
5. Run daily safety briefs with theatre teams to ensure good and effective communication.
6. Always ensure patient and staff safety, manage risk, and report incidents.
7. Ensure full compliance with the safer surgery agenda and WHO surgical safety checklists.
8. Work closely with the Practice Educator to support training & development and ensure mandatory training compliance.
9. Attend weekly Theatre Scheduling and List Planning meetings as required.
10. Attend weekly Theatre Managers meetings and contribute to service improvement plans.
11. Maintain stock control and expenditure in line with budget allocations.
12. Act as deputy for the Head of Theatre Services when required.
Main duties of the job
Create and maintain an environment where all Operating Department team members can contribute maximally, providing high standards of patient care, staff welfare, and training.
Participate in audit and research, and lead clinical governance within the directorate.
Carry accountability for assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs, and setting standards of care, including staff deployment, supervision, training, and education.
Organize and prioritize operating lists in liaison with surgeons and anesthetists, due to the dynamic perioperative environment.
Participate in planning theatre schedules and operating lists, and develop practice and training plans.
