Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Urology team in Ward 54.

We are looking to recruit two Band 2 Healthcare support workers on a one year fixed term basis to help us to continue to deliver high quality patient care and enhance patient experiences.

Ward 54 is an acute 24 bedded Surgical ward specialising in Urology. You will be assisting in the safe delivery of care for our both our elective and emergency Urology patients.

You will be joining an already established team to provide safe and effective patient centred care, and we would be keen to hear from applicants that would embrace the challenge of working in a highly demanding environment.

Candidates should be enthusiastic, dynamic, caring and compassionate, with a keen interest in urology & surgical nursing. You should be self motivated, and strive to deliver high quality patient focused care.

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and efficiently. You will be working alongside a registered nurse in a team but need to be able to work on your own initiative to provide excellent patient care.

Experience within an acute surgical ward is desirable, although not essential, as supervision and support will be available to orientate you into the role.
This is a fixed one year contract to cover maternity leave and we have various part time hours available for the successful candidate*.

Informal enquiries to SCN Susan Sung 01592 643355 ext 29554

Please note the salary for this post is pro rata to part time hours if applicable.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.
As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

*Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity – Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
