Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Transit Plan & Projects the System Analyst is responsible for supporting the Transit Services department to take a proactive approach to identify business improvement opportunities and leverage information technology to take the business improvement opportunities from inception through to realization. This job is responsible for supporting Transit in realizing the value of technology investments and building trusting relationships to help navigate the continuous change. This job oversees the management of all Transit technology solutions including procurement, implementation, and ongoing systems management.
Qualifications, Competencies
* Interprets, analyzes, and documents functional specifications, business and system requirements based on industry practices in order to comprehend the current state and future state of the business and provide a gap analysis
* Responsible for continuous management and for all transit technology systems (HASTUS scheduling software, CONSAT GPS/AVL, SEON camera system, BEA/PIM farebox) including system maintenance, vendor contract management/service agreements, and system monitoring to ensure systems remain secure, functional, and modernized
* Plan, monitor and control major transit technology projects using project management methodologies, including engagement with internal/external stakeholders to ensure effective solution delivery and appropriate resource management
* Monitor emerging industry trends related to technology solutions in a transit environment
* Other duties as assigned
* Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related field
* 3-5 years of recent relevant experience in a systems development environment, including experience as a project manager leading complex technology projects
* Experience in a Transit/Transportation environment
* Database and software programming experience
* Certifications or Designations
o “G” class Ontario drivers license
o Project Management Professional, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Change Management Certification (e.g. Prosci)

* Detailed oriented
* Must be able to multi-task with focus
* Proficient skills in MS Office, relational databases (Oracle, MS-SQL) and modern programming languages/tools
* Knowledgeable in current information technology (Web based technology, Cloud Computing Technology)
* Knowledgeable in Business Intelligence reporting
* Must have excellent communication, change management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
* Demonstrated use of Change Management principles
* Strong, effective customer service and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a team environment, liaise with key stakeholders and to function effectively with minimal supervision
* Strong time and project management skills
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information
* Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to formulate solutions to complex issues
* Must demonstrate the corporate competencies: Belonging, Collaboration, Accountability, and Innovation
* Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
