Job Description What will you be doing? We’re looking for a forward-thinking Mechanical Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical design, ideally within a heavy manufacturing or safety-critical environment. This role is suited for an engineer who thrives on critical thinking and technical problem-solving, and who values underpinning design decisions with rigorous analysis—not just CAD output. Your main responsibilities will be: In this hands-on design and analysis role, you’ll play a key part in shaping complex mechanical systems. Your ability to produce and validate engineering calculations (by hand and using tools such as Mathcad) will be critical in ensuring designs are both robust and justifiable. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, applying engineering fundamentals to optimise designs and support the wider mechanical engineering function. Develop and validate mechanical designs for heavy-duty applications Perform detailed hand calculations and use Mathcad for verification Provide critical analysis to support design decisions with sound engineering principles Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise solutions and share technical knowledge Support the continuous improvement of engineering tools, methods, and processes Produce technical reports and documentation to support design justifications Who are we looking for? Although CAD experience is beneficial, it’s not the primary focus of this role. We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who brings a strong foundation in design theory and analytical thinking—someone who understands not just how to design a system, but why that design works best. Proven ability to carry out first-principles engineering analysis and hand calculations Experience with Mathcad or similar tools for structured calculations Sound knowledge of mechanical systems and design for safety, integrity, and performance You are Passionate about engineering result-oriented proactive
