The Role:
As Risk Manager, you’ll own the day-to-day management of the credit risk strategies and associated controls for Consumer Finance, ensuring lending aligns with business standards and fair customer outcomes. You will review and enhance credit risk controls and strategies, including monitoring performance against key risk indicators. You will own and manage an ongoing programme of analysis to support agreed business requirements for acquisition & customer management credit risk – setting and reviewing score cut-offs and risk-based pricing, new loan strategies, life-time loss and predicted bad rate modelling and affordability assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage asset quality and credit risk strategies across Consumer Finance portfolios, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and presenting insights to senior management.
* Own and maintain credit risk policies and documentation within account opening and management systems, supporting operational teams while protecting customer outcomes.
* Lead initiatives to identify safe growth opportunities without compromising credit quality,delivering strategic insights and updates on policy changes to key stakeholders.
* Produce and manage regular and ad-hoc reporting for governance forums, highlighting key trends, performance, and recommended actions.
* Manage the day-to-day relationshipwith Credit Reference Agencies.
* Share knowledge of credit risk management across internal teams, contribute to cross-functional projects and deputise for the Head of Risk when required.
Skills & Attributes:
* Proven experience working in a Risk Analysis role at a Senior level within unsecured lending.
* Complete understanding of the consumer risk lifecycle.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Able to take initiative and ownership of work.
* Experience working with SAS, Excel & SQL.
* Very good knowledge of credit bureau data.
