Job Details
We are looking for an enthusiastic Paralegal/Administrator to carry out a range of paralegal and administrative duties in connection with the provision of conveyancing and other property related legal services to the Council, including (but not restricted to):
1. Drafting and issuing offers and other missives for standard transactions including purchase, sale, or lease of property on behalf of the Council. It may also include servitudes in favour of statutory undertakers.
2. Researching titles
3. Drafting relevant legal documentation
4. Settling transactions.
5. Dealing with Land and Building Transaction Tax
6. Registration formalities of transactions
7. Housekeeping deed title room and index.
The post holder will also be responsible for assisting the Team Manager with the administration connected with the work of the Property and Contracts Team, including:
8. Understanding and applying the working practices and systems within the Legal Team.
9. Monitoring/Managing generic email box
10. Reviewing new instructions and communicating with client services, partners and stakeholders
11. Managing the team’s work allocation list
12. Managing the creation of case files in our file management system
13. Assisting team colleagues with administrative tasks
14. The post is within one of three legal teams which also covers freedom of information, contracts, public procurement and data protection. There will be opportunities and support to apply any existing knowledge or experience, or to develop new skills.
You will work under the direction and supervision of the Team Manager.
The Person
This post will suit a candidate with experience in legal administrative and business management matters. Experience in conveyancing and general property matters is desirable, but training can be provided.
You are either required to have an HNC or equivalent educational qualification in conveyancing or Administration/Business Management,or be able to demonstrate experience in these areas to an equivalent level.
