Thisis an exciting opportunity to be part of the Security Teambased at Langdon Hospital in Dawlish. The team's main purpose is to keep patients, staff and the environment safe.

Inthis role, you'll carry out security tasks across the site to ensure asafe environment for people, property and information. As you'll be based at the hospital, you'll support our nursing teams in delivering patient-centredcare, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients.

Therole is dynamic and challenging. On aday-to-day basis, you'll conduct perimeter checks across the site and on ourwards, reporting any security concerns or damage. You will also be on-hand toassist our ward nursing and multi-disciplinary healthcare teams with newpatient ward admissions and act as an escort/driver for any hospital/courtvisits. Additionally, you'll be part of the restraint team when needing torespond to any emergencies on the wards and, alongside the Security Manager,you'll provide training to staff on handcuff/soft cuff, security awareness andsearch training. You may also be asked to carry out nursing assistant roles asrequired, such as patient observations & conducting urine drug screens(UDS)

Due to the nature of the role, you'll be requiredto work a flexible shift pattern over a 7 day period which may occasionallyinclude evenings and nights depending on the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

Communication is key in this role and you must have experience of working in a team. As a result, excellent verbal and written skills are required.

Interactingwith patients and the public you will be confident in giving non-clinicalinformation and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitiveinformation daily, you will understand the importance of data security.

Youwill often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we arelooking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, andmanage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will become an important part of the team, working to ensurethat every patient receives high quality care. You may be required to supportthe induction of new staff member, demonstrating activities to them.

Due to the nature of the role, all staff are required to attend & pass a physical restraint assessment as you may be involved in restraint incidents.

Person Specification


Knowledge and Skills

* Demonstrate an ability to make and sustain professional therapeutic relationships.
* Good communication and listening skills.
* Ability to work with people in a group and individual basis.
* Able to work in a team effectively.
* Demonstrate an ability and awareness to maintain personal boundaries.


Qualifications

* Basic Education.
* If equivalent qualification is not already obtained, to complete Level 3 in NHS Security Training within 12 months of commencing employment at a reduced salary.
* Level 3 qualification in NHS Security Training or equivalent experience.
* Other evidence of training or development relevant to working within mental health settings.


Experience

* Previous employment / experience of working with people in a caring situation or previous experience working within a secure environment.
* Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of security requirements.
* Awareness of safeguarding principles.
* Previous care experience with people who have Mental Health difficulties.
