Job Description
Professional Head of Facilities Management. Subject-matter lead. Define and implement facilities strategy and plan to provide safe and effective work environments to meet business needs. Deputise for HSQE Director.
* Design FM strategy for group for current facilities needs, new business needs and to effectively mitigate obsolescence, climate-change, capacity and compliance risks across the estate.
* Work collaboratively with suppliers, site general managers and other SLT and board stakeholders to advocate for well-researched and effective FM solutions, gaining buy-in and commitment.
* Define, build and lead Group FM Team to achieve strategic aims set.
* Negotiate, alongside procurement specialists, to secure best value and compliance for FM capital projects and operational out-sourced suppliers.
* Programme Manager for FM capital projects, managing internal and external project teams to deliver FM requirements.
* Senior responsible owner for FM standards, procedures and instructions, and their implementation as tools and systems accessible by site facilities teams.
* Budget Manager for FM capital and out-sourced services.
* Act as the Facilities Subject Matter Expert when called upon to address regulatory and agency compliance issues, third party safety & liability consultants and subcontractor representatives.
* Maintain close integration across the H&W group to share learning, best practice and collaborative working
* Champion (or support) any key business specific activity as deemed appropriate by the Board, CEO and SLT.
* Lead by example as a key member of the senior functional leadership of the business.
Qualifications
* Formal qualification in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities Management or equivalent
* Knowledge of procurement activities (discussing requirements with suppliers, preparing documentation for purchase orders, reviewing and approving invoices)
* Proven experience working within a maintenance department in a shipyard or multi-site heavy engineering/industrial setting.
* Experience assisting with development of a Planned Preventative Maintenance system.
* Deadlines appearing and changing quickly.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills on modern and legacy equipment.
* Familiarity with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, pumps, and other shipyard-related machinery.
* Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
