Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £25-30 per hour
A supportive Further Education college in Burton upon Trent is seeking an experienced Lifeskills / Foundation Studies Lecturer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is suited to a passionate and resilient educator with strong experience supporting learners with severe and complex SEND needs.
Working in partnership with TeacherActive, the successful candidate will deliver engaging, learner-centred provision designed to develop independence, communication, and employability skills for learners with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver Life Skills and Foundation learning programmes tailored to learners with severe SEND
Support learners with complex needs including communication difficulties, learning disabilities, and sensory needs
Create inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environments that promote progress and independence
Assess learner progress using appropriate methods and maintain accurate records and reports
Work closely with support staff, therapists, and wider curriculum teams to meet individual learner needs
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, EHCP requirements, and Ofsted standards
Requirements:
Proven experience teaching learners with severe and complex SEND in an FE or specialist education setting
Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and person-centred learning
Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
