What you’ll be doing
* Ensure data compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, EU AI ACT)
* Improve data accessibility while maintaining security and compliance e.g. contractual sovereign requirements
* Responsible for managing Data Landscaping ensuring accurate inventory, classification, and governance of Products, Applications, and Legal Entities.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders across business units to ensure buy-in and sponsorship of data compliance initiatives.
* Acts as a technical specialist on best practices and recommends changes to enhance security and reduce risks.
* Facilitates the development, implementation, and business adoption of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the BT Business.
* Contributes to a culture of data across the BT Business and leads on the implementation of various data projects.
* Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging compliance topics
* Act as a conduit between central governance, delivery units and data owners / stewards, ensuring consistent application of data compliance standards.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data compliance control processes and platforms.
* Provide training and guidance on data compliance management best practices and tools.
* Mentor and coach a team of professionals, fostering growth and maintaining a high-performing team capable of executing data compliance.
Data Transformation
• Input into shaping the Data transformation program and business owner for the Digital Audit Remediation and Customer Data Handling Obligation projects
Skills and Experience
Functional Knowledge & Technical Skills
* Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements on data compliance tools and techniques
* Knowledge of applicable regulation and legislation related to data compliance and data security and application within organizations
* Familiar with Data Governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA).
Business Expertise
* Acts as a technical specialist on data compliance and security best practices and recommends changes to enhance security and reduce risks.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Influence across Business functions on data compliance topics.
* Ability to work collaboratively with Data Owners, Stewards, and business units to resolve data compliance issues.
* Ability to identify and implement enhancements to data compliance framework
* Understanding of business-critical data domains (e.g. customer, product, finance) and their operational impact.
* Translating technical data issues into business relevant language for non-technical audiences
Experience you would be expected to have
* Proven experience in leading data compliance programs and implementation.
* Strong understanding of data compliance frameworks, applications, processes and principles
* Leadership of small team of data professionals
