Trainee / Intermediate Controls Engineer Permanent Position £25,000 to £35,000 Objective To create or modify Control and Automation systems to meet customer specifications and deadlines. To write, test, install, commission and document software and specify and integrate associated hardware. Accountable to Systems Director Senior Systems Engineer Systems Engineer Responsible for Self and supporting other Engineers with your technical skills. Key tasks Project Work Produce the following documentation as required, following Company Standards, and maintain it over the life cycle of the project: Functional Design Specifications System Design Specifications Test Schedules and Documentation Commissioning Documentation Training Materials O&M Manuals Check colleague's documentation as required. Write control system software, using appropriate tools and following Company Standards, to meet the agreed specification(s) for any or all of the following: Programmable Logic Controllers Human Machine Interfaces SCADA Systems MIS/MES Thoroughly test the software and solve any problems. Keep records of changes to software. The testing stages are: Internal testing Factory Acceptance Tests Site Acceptance Tests Commission hardware and software on site with assistance where necessary Provide continuing support and trouble-shoot any problems Meet with Customers to understand their project/site, identify their requirements Promote the Company externally Any other activities General Provide a quality, friendly and professional service to all of our Customers. Follow any Company Standards or Procedures which cover the scope of your work. This includes any Standards or Procedures imposed on Customer sites especially with regard to Health & Safety e.g. Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations. Plan and prioritise your own work in order to meet project deadlines. Attend conferences. Optionally join an appropriate Professional Body. Share your technical expertise with other employees and coach them as appropriate. Ensure that all project files are backed up regularly (ideally daily) on to the Company server.
