Overview
The role of Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist entails facilitating the cost-effective use of antimicrobials through regular reporting to Divisional/business unit/trust-wide management and consultant teams. Collaboration with Business Units is essential for developing services that meet service needs, often requiring innovation, technology, and novel approaches. Managing the clinical pharmacy service to the OPAT service, including strategy, workforce, policy, service development, and related activities, is a core responsibility. Providing a specialized clinical pharmacy service involves evaluating individual patient medications for interactions, duplication, etc., utilizing medicines information and research findings to manage therapeutic problems, reduce risks, and advise healthcare professionals. This may entail analyzing incomplete or conflicting data. Maintaining and developing policies and procedures covering all aspects of the pharmacy service regarding antimicrobials, including administrative, clinical, technical, and training information and Standard Operating Procedures, is crucial.
