Platform Engineer (Data Platforms)
Location: London
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to build and maintain scalable, secure and high‑performance data platforms. You'll play a key role in ensuring reliable data services while working closely with data scientists, analysts and engineering teams.
What you'll be doing
1. Building and maintaining scalable data platform infrastructure
2. Ensuring high availability, performance and security of data services
3. Developing and maintaining data pipelines
4. Collaborating with data teams to integrate tools and services
5. Troubleshooting complex platform and data infrastructure issues
6. Supporting cross‑team integration with wider systems and applications
7. Driving improvements across platform architecture and design
What we're looking for
Essential:
8. Strong experience in platform engineering / operations (Linux‑based)
9. Experience with data platforms or big data environments
10. Understanding of data lake architectures and data governance
11. Strong knowledge of security (encryption, access control, vulnerability management)
12. Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet)
13. Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Nice to have:
14. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins)
15. Exposure to data tooling (Airflow, NiFi, Elasticsearch)
16. Experience with Cloudera / Hadoop ecosystems (Spark, Hive, HDFS)
