About the team and the role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Commercial Claims Handler to join our claims team. The successful candidate will manage and process a range of commercial insurance claims, ensuring prompt, fair, and efficient resolution in line with policy terms, regulatory requirements, and internal service standards.
How you'll contribute:
* Handle a portfolio of commercial claims, including property, liability, business interruption, and other commercial lines.
* Investigate, assess, and validate claims through effective communication with policyholders, brokers, loss adjusters, and other third parties.
* Review and interpret insurance policies to determine coverage and liability.
* Negotiate settlements within designated authority levels and escalate complex cases when necessary.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on claims management systems.
* Provide excellent customer service by guiding clients through the claims process with empathy and professionalism.
* Liaise with legal teams and other experts to manage contentious or high-value claims.
* Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company standards.
* Identify potential fraud and refer cases for further investigation as appropriate.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the claims department.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in handling commercial insurance claims.
* Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and claims processes.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple claims and meet deadlines.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
Preferred:
* Insurance qualifications (e.g., Cert CII, Dip CII) or working towards them.
* Experience with high-value or complex commercial claims.
* Knowledge of FCA and other regulatory frameworks.
