Mechanical Fitter Location: Cookstown (or surrounding area - can amend) Rate: £17-£18 per hour Contract: Permanent Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm Friday: 8:00am - 2:00pm (early finish) A well-established heavy manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its production team. This is a hands-on role within a demanding industrial environment, offering stable day-shift hours, an early finish on Fridays, and strong hourly rates. The Role: Assemble, install, align, and commission mechanical components and heavy machinery Carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance Diagnose mechanical faults and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve mechanical issues Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures and permit systems Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately What We're Looking For: Proven experience as a Fitter within a heavy manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment Strong mechanical knowledge including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors Competent using hand tools and power tools Ability to read and work from engineering drawings Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines Comfortable working independently or as part of a team What's On Offer: £17-£18 per hour, depending on experience Day shift role with early finish every Friday Permanent position within a stable manufacturing business Opportunity to develop skills within a heavy engineering environment This role would suit a Mechanical Fitter looking for secure daytime hours, good pay, and long-term stability.
