The role focuses on adult cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart and lung transplantation, and respiratory extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Set up and run the heart‑lung machine for cardiac surgery procedures.</li><li>Operate cell salvage machines and intra‑aortic balloon pumps.</li><li>Support mechanical circulatory support devices, including ventricular assist devices and ECMO.</li><li>Assist in Veno‑Veno Respiratory ECMO service and patient retrieval from outside units.</li><li>Participate in a departmental on‑call rotation as needed.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Honours degree in life sciences, minimum 2.1.</li><li>Commitment to attend weekly MSc Perfusion Science (MSc) blocks at the University of Bristol and practical training at Wythenshawe.</li><li>Ability to work as part of a team and maintain autonomy under pressure.</li><li>Strong focus and endurance to manage stressful situations for extended periods.</li></ul><h3>Pay</h3><p>Payable at the rate of the top of the band, scaling over the training period (75% up to 12 months, 70% after 12–24 months, 65% after 24–36 months, 60% after 36 months).
