Overview
UCLH, one of London’s key cancer centres, is seeking to recruit a Clinical Trials Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support a growing number of cancer clinical trials within the Cellular Therapy Team. The successful candidate will be based within the Cancer Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) based in 250 Euston Road.
Responsibilities
* Sending, collecting and storing questionnaires
* Handling incoming mail and correspondence
* Providing a high quality personal assistant service to the team when needed
* Attending clinics if/when requested by the Nurse/Coordinator
* Retrieval/creation and maintenance of patient notes
* Site File maintenance
* Requesting and sending biological samples
* Supporting data managers with relevant queries
* Maintaining up to date and accurate filing systems – paper and IT
* Assisting with surveys/audits as required
* Having a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with a wide range of personnel in the multidisciplinary team orally, in writing or electronically in a professional and courteous manner
* To be familiar with and confident in using the Trust IT systems
* Taking minutes at departmental and tumour group meetings
* Completing mandatory training and other recommended training
* Prioritising workload, meeting deadlines and tackling problems systematically and with initiative
* Maintaining confidentiality of patient related information at all times
* Taking personal responsibility for ensuring that UCLH resources are used efficiently and with minimum wastage
* Adhering to all Trust policies and procedures, the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Data Protection Act
* Monitoring and maintaining physical resources within the work area, and reporting any related problems to line management
Qualifications and requirements
Ideally we want someone with an interest in clinical research and cancer, good verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of Microsoft products such as Excel. This role would be ideal for a new science graduate looking to get their first experience of working in a health care setting. Full training will be provided but the successful candidate will be expected to manage their own workload to achieve the goals set by the team.
