Apprentice Family Independent Domestic Violence Advisor – West Cornwall
About The Role
As a Family Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor Apprentice, you will work directly with families affected by domestic abuse across West Cornwall. You will be based in Cornwall Council’s social work teams, offering direct casework support to whole families where domestic abuse is identified and working in partnership with social care staff. This role offers an excellent pathway into domestic abuse services, safeguarding, advocacy, and wider family support work.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in partnership with children’s social care staff and parents to ensure that children and young people are supported to have a voice in families impacted by domestic abuse, improving their health, well‑being and sense of safety.
* Undertake apprenticeship training to achieve a Level 4 Domestic Abuse and Sexual Abuse Support Worker Apprenticeship.
* Provide direct casework with families experiencing domestic abuse, offering advice, information and advocacy via telephone or meetings at community venues/hubs.
* Support families currently being assisted through child‑in‑need assessments, child‑in‑need or child support plans, contributing to these plans.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with teams across Together for Families and the Integrated DA service.
* Ensure that the parent/carer feels supported, listened to and believed.
Essential Requirements
Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
