Visitor Experience Assistant Location: 12 Holland Park Road, W14 8LZ Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 2 Months Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week Pay Rate: £16.05 per hour Job Ref: (phone number removed) Job Responsibilities As part of the Culture Service (Museums) team, you will: Deliver a professional and welcoming visitor experience, ensuring high standards of customer care. Maintain public spaces to be safe and pleasant for use. Open and close the museums safely each day, adhering to operating procedures. Collaborate with the museum Café team to maintain consistent visitor experience standards. Stay informed about museum collections, history, and exhibitions to provide visitors with information. Respond to visitor queries from the general museum inbox. Assist with the administration of the museums' ticketing system. Advise visitors with access needs to enhance their visit experience. Assist in the safe evacuation of visitors during emergencies. Regulate visitor flow during operational hours and events, ensuring safety. Support fundraising by promoting Friends memberships and ticket purchases. Maximize museum income through efficient visitor service and retail operations. Handle cash and card transactions accurately, including cashing up activities. Maintain high standards of visual merchandising in shop displays. Replenish shop stock and manage deliveries efficiently. Conduct stocktaking and manage stock as needed. Assist with online shop tasks, including order fulfillment and customer queries. Monitor facilities daily to ensure public spaces are safe and well-presented. Supervise council operatives or contractors on site for building tasks. Prepare public spaces for meetings, events, and private hires. Perform conservation cleaning duties when the museums are closed to the public. Communicate regularly with the Front of House Manager about facilities or collections issues. Support the Senior Curator and Collections Manager with collections-based projects. Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the management team. Person Specifications To excel in this role, you should demonstrate: Flexibility to work on weekdays and weekends on a rolling 5-day rota. Availability to work on museum closure days for conservation cleaning. Understanding and experience in delivering excellent visitor service standards. Strong communication skills for responding to visitor queries onsite and online. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams and individuals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Teams. Ability to prioritize a diverse workload with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to learn museum contents, procedures, and key contacts quickly. Knowledge of safe manual handling procedures and physical capability to lift and carry stock. Familiarity with relevant Health and Safety procedures. Experience using EPOS systems, cash handling, and cashing up procedures. Experience administering an online shop platform like Shopify. Experience with online ticketing systems for ticket sales and event loading. Experience in a target-driven retail environment with stock management systems. Experience in a museum, gallery, or similar public-facing environment.
